Work Stress PR

2020-02-13

Lot of work stress this week. So much so that I contemplated skipping training last night. I’m really glad I didn’t.

  • Snatch push press + 3 overhead squats with 3-second pause at the very bottom.
    • Loads: 85, 95, 105, 115, 120,125 lbs.
    • That 125 lbs is a snatch push press PR. Indeed, my overhead squat PR is only 130, because I fail the jerk to get it overhead at 135.
    • Lessons learned here: if I dip and drive properly, I can probably easily jerk more than 135 from the back rack.
  • Power snatch complex: three rounds of 1 high hang power snatch + 1 hang snatch is one set.
    • Leads: 65, 70, 75, 75, 75
    • Lessons learned here: really really jump harder. At these lighter weights the bar will just float into place if I do that. I DON"T want to get under the bar and wait for it to arrive. I want to get there just in time.
  • Snatch deadlift with pause at knee on the way down.
    • 5 reps at 105 lbs, 5 reps at 110 lbs, then 5 sets of 3 reps at 115 lbs.
      • Make sure on these I don’t let my chest collapse and butt rise too fast.

Oh, morning lifting was technique work;

  • 1 clean + 1 hang clean from knee.
    • 2 sets at 115, 2 sets at 120
    • honestly these felt pretty sloppy :-(
  • Clean deficit pulls at 140 lbs. 5 sets of 4
