My focus lately has been to stay connected to the bar. The common issue for me has been that when the loads get heavier, my brain freaks out and I pull really hard, dive into my squat, and the bar crashes down on me.
So, I’ve been trying to keep my cool and move the same way with heavier loads as with lighter loads. I.e. “Same Same”! I think this just takes more training time with these loads, and that’s what I’ve been doing.
Today I worked up to 110 lbs for snatch (92% of 1RM) and 145 clean and jerk (93% of 1RM). That is more than I have cleaned in many months. While these lifts are far from perfect, they are a lot better in terms of timing and connection to the bar, and I wasn’t afraid of any of them–they felt pretty light. Next week I will go heavier.
The problems I see:
- Need a more long patient pull
- I’m on my toes too early
- I rarely get a good extension
- That left foot! Still a struggle to maintain full foot pressure on the pull.
Below are the heaviest lifts of the day, at 1/4 speed.
